As an entrepreneur, a “good” day is when you can get through at least half of your to-do list. With so many moving parts of your business, getting everything done is just part of the battle. When new ideas come along or new business ventures present themselves, you want to be able to cash in and not leave them at the wayside.
If you’re like most business owners, you’ve likely put a lot of tasks and goals on the back burner, simply because you often do not have the time or the resources you need to get the work done. Naturally, over time, the “inactionable” tasks you have continue to grow, while you invest your time in running your business, instead of being able to work on your business.
So, how do you make the inactionable actionable?
You can get more done, every day, without having to extend your work hours.
Imagine being able to seamlessly check things off of your to-do list as soon as you wake up every morning.
And, you can turn those inactionable items you’ve been hoping to get around to, into completed tasks that can actually help you to propel your business.
Here are 3 ways that you can make the inactionable actionable.
- Make the most of networking.
How many times have you attended a networking event or conference and collected a handful of business cards, only for them to be stuffed into a desk drawer, never to be looked at again?
This was me, all the time, until I found a proven way to take the inactionable tasks (doing nothing with the cards) and create an actionable system that could transform how I make and leverage new connections.
Now, when I get a new business card, or two, or a dozen, I take a quick picture using my smartphone and email the picture to a data entry freelancer. They not only upload all of the contact information from each business card into our CRM, but they also look for additional information like LinkedIn profiles and social media accounts too.
With the new contact in our CRM, the contact is then sent an automated follow-up email thanking them for making the connection with me.
Next, my virtual assistant signs on to my LinkedIn account and makes the connection.
That way for under $20 and within a few hours, I have made lasting contact with the people I meet, wherever I go – and seamlessly grow my online network.

Test an idea within a week.
Getting critical market research you need to make a decision about moving forward with a new product or pursuing a new business venture can be hard to come by – especially for the busy entrepreneur.
But, with outsourcing, you can get in-depth market intelligence within a week for under $100.
That’s right! You can go from just having an “idea” to having tangible research and market evidence to back up or kill your idea for pennies on the dollar.
I did this exact thing with a recent idea I had for pomade. I had a freelance data scraper find all pomades on the market, including website, price, marketing materials, even images of the packaging for each.
So, in little under 3 days, I had over 200 different products to review to see if it was worthwhile entering that space with a pomade product.
-
Blogs done on-the-go.
When have you had time to really write a blog? Between all of the things you have going on in your life, finding time to sit down and write seems impossible. So, I stopped trying.
Now, I send a voice recording of a blog topic or idea I have – wherever I am. In fact, this blog topic was sent to my freelance writer while I was at the gym.
I recorded a quick voice recording, during a water break, shot her an email – and within 24 hours – I had a professionally written blog (that you are reading right now) for under $20 AND I didn’t have to give up time in my schedule to get the work done.
Plus, my virtual assistant does a quick edit of each article, posts it on my website and promotes it on all of our social media platforms. It can’t get any easier (or cheaper) than this!
